Several high schools in Katy rank high on urban schools list
Several Katy ISD schools high on a ranking of urban campuses by Children at Risk, a nonprofit children's education organization.
Morton Ranch High School was ranked No. 1 as the Best Comprehensive Urban High School.
Mayde Creek High School was ranked No. 3 in the same category.
Cinco Ranch High School was ranked No. 10 in the Greater Houston Top High Schools in Science and Mathematics category.
Children at Risk evaluates schools throughout Texas based on information from the Texas Education Agency, as well as TAKS test results, to provide a list of school rankings.
The organization's 2012 rankings included an evaluation of 150 high schools, 277 junior high schools and 769 elementary schools in the Greater Houston region.
Katy ISD serves more than 62,000 students and consists of 53 campuses west of downtown Houston.
