Bookmark summer reading at Katy libraries
Katy libraries have summer reading programs for all ages.
This summer the Harris County Public Library's reading program theme is "Get a Clue @ the Library." It's designed to encourage readers of all ages to indulge in mysteries.
During the program, children receive a wristband for registering, and children who read or listen to 10 books or log 500 minutes of reading/listening receive a free book. Teens who read or listen to five books or log 600 minutes of reading/listening receive a USB flash drive wristband. Adults who read or listen to five books or log 600 minutes are entered in drawings to win a Kindle Fire, a Nook tablet or a $30 bookstore gift card.
All HCPL branches will host special programs throughout the summer. Some planned activities include wildlife programs featuring critters, magic shows, musicians, puppetry, pizza-making demonstrations, book discussions, virtual author visits, writing workshops, crafts and more. Visit the events calendar for a complete list of activities at www.hcpl.net/content/events-programs.
Register any time between June 4 and Aug. 11 at www.hcpl.net. All library programs are free and open to the public. For more information about the branch closest to you, call 713-749-9000 or log on to the library's website.
