Help students get school supplies
Katy community members are encouraged to help underprivileged children get ready for school this summer.
In 2011 the community helped more than 700 children have new school supplies on the first day of school. This year, organizers believe the number will be much higher. The Red Apple School Supply Drive at Katy Christian Ministries has several ways to help out the program.
Residents can organize a new school supply drive in their church, neighborhood or organization. You can also adopt kids by donating money to help purchase new school supplies through the organization's website, ktcm.org. KCM also will help community members host a Red Apple Tree in their place of business to encourage donations.
