Upcoming classes to be held at Michaels
Michaels craft and hobby store will host classes on scrapbooking, painting, crocheting, knitting and more during August.
Sketched Out by paper ED for scrapbookers is scheduled for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. Cost is $25 plus supplies. The course will focus on interpreting a page sketch to make two 12-by-12 pages and two cards. A second paper ED event on the die-cutting machine Sizzix is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 for customers to test the machine. Cost is $10.
Those who have always wanted to learn to paint can take Seascape 1 Painting by Grumbacher from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 13. No painting experience is necessary. A certified instructor will guide painters through acrylic painting technique to create the seascape. Cost is $25 plus supplies. For those who have taken the Seascape 1 class, a Landscape 2 class will be offered from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost for that class is $50 plus supplies.
The Craft Yarn Council will host the Discover Time for Crochet class from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 and the Discover Time for Knit class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Both classes are $25 plus supplies, and a certified instructor will be available both times to assist with difficult stitches.
Make three greeting cards with the Cricut Card Tricks class by paper ED from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. The class will use a single Cricut cartridge. Cost is $25 plus supplies.
Three classes are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 17. For children, a two-hour Wilton Super Cakes for Kids introduction class for decorating with butter cream frosting will be offered for $15 plus supplies from 4 to 6 p.m. The class is recommended for ages 8 to 12. The Flower WOW! class from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. will focus on making paper flowers for a cost of $25 plus supplies. The final class of the day, tINKer Time Distress and Shimmer from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for $25 plus supplies, will create tops with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Ranger Perfect Pearls.
