Morton Ranch High School releases varsity football schedule

Morton Ranch High School has released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.

Under the guidance of head coach Dave Meadows, the Mavericks look to return to the state playoffs after being knocked out in the first round in 2011.

Morton Ranch's season will begin when they travel to Tomball High School for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, Aug. 31.

Weeks 2 and 3 have the Mavericks home at Rhodes Stadium against Fort Bend Austin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, and Alief Hastings at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.

Coming off a bye the weekend of Sept. 21, Morton Ranch will begin District 19 play and face its toughest stretch of the season, traveling to Katy to tangle with the Tigers at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27; home for Cinco Ranch at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 and to Memorial for a meeting with the Mustangs at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.

District opponent Strake Jesuit High School will welcome the Mavericks to Crusader Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

The final three weeks of the regular season and district play finds Morton Ranch at home against Mayde Creek at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27; on the road at Katy Taylor High School 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 and back at Rhodes Stadium for Senior Night against Seven Lakes at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

Should the Mavericks reach the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas playoffs would begin Friday, Nov. 16.

Morton Ranch plays its home games at 21000 Franz Road, Katy.
