Katy High School releases Tigers varsity football schedule

Katy High School has released the schedule of the football Tigers for the upcoming season.

Under the leadership of ninth-year head coach Gary Joseph, the Tigers look to win the fourth consecutive district championship and make another deep run into the Texas state playoffs.

The season will kick off in a big way, as Katy will battle the Klein High School Bearcats at Reliant Stadium, the 71,500-seat home of the National Football League's Houston Texans, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

In Week 2, the Tigers will be at home for the first time, against Aleif Taylor High School at Rhodes Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

In the final game before district play begins, Katy will travel to Woodforest Bank Stadium for a match-up with The Woodlands High School Highlanders at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.

Following an open date, District 19 play begins when Morton Ranch High School visits the Tigers at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27.

Katy will be the visiting team in Rhodes Stadium when it takes on Mayde Creek High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.

The Tigers' Homecoming opponent will be district foe Katy Taylor High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.

Three of Katy's final four regular-season district games will have them as the visiting team, first against Seven Lakes High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Rhodes Stadium; a tussle at Tully Stadium against Strake Jesuit High School at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27; back home for Senior Day against Cinco Ranch High School at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3; and a return trip to Tully Stadium for the season finale against the Memorial Mustangs at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

Should the Tigers once again qualify for postseason play, the first round of the 5A Texas playoffs will begin Friday, Nov. 16.
